Staff from Coleg Llandrillo Cymru’s award-winning Independent Living Skills (ILS) department recently held an Information Morning at the College’s Rhos-on-Sea Campus.
The Information Morning was an opportunity for parents, carers, professionals and school groups to find out more about the Independent Living Skills courses available and talk to key members of staff. Invited students from schools across Denbighshire and Conwy – including, Rhyl High School, Ysgol Plas Brondyffryn, Denbigh High School, Ysgol Tir Morfa, Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy, Ysgol Bryn Elian and Pengwern College - and representatives from Heath & Social Services and Careers Wales had a chance to view the excellent facilities at the College when touring the Campus.
Independent Living Skills courses are for students with moderate, severe and profound learning difficulties. Some courses are vocational, whilst others aim to develop life skills and basic skills. All courses are designed to meet the needs of the learner.
The Independent Living Skills staff have been presented with the Careers Wales Quality Award, in the form of a dragon’s tail. The award recognises the high quality of careers guidance given to the students that supports personal development, effective understanding of the world of work and lifelong career planning.
