Coleg Llandrillo Cymru, Treasure Chest and The North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre are working in partnership to provide a new service for patients during or following their cancer treatment. The launch of this innovative project took place at Glan Clwyd Hospital’s Cancer Centre in Bodelwyddan this week.
The College’s Beauty Therapy students provided a range of treatments in the Centre’s reception area, including massages and file and polishes, as well as informing patients and visitors of the pamper evenings at the College in the New Year.
Starting in January, patients having treatment for cancer will have the opportunity to have a free evening of pampering at Coleg Llandrillo Cymru’s Beauty Salon, at the Rhos-on-Sea Campus. They can choose two free sessions which will include Make-up lessons, Facials, Manicures or Pedicures. Patients will also receive free samples and a voucher for a free follow up session.
Pat Pilkington, Chemotherapy Lead Nurse in the Cancer Centre, said: “Having cancer treatment can affect a person’s whole body image and many patients suffer from low self-esteem during treatment. Pampering has been proven to help a person’s psychological well-being and encourage the feel-good factor of patients with cancer” said.
