Feasibility Study of a Possible Merger

The Corporations of Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor and Coleg Llandrillo resolved, in March 2009, to explore the possibility of a formal merger between the two Colleges.

Following this decision, staff and governors of both colleges have been involved in further discussions and with a formal feasibility study, undertaken by external consultants (DTZ and Eversheds). These studies were completed in June 2009.

Following presentations by DTZ and Eversheds, thorough discussion, and consideration of the Feasibility and Due Diligence Reports, the Corporations of Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor and Coleg Llandrillo have recently decided to move on to a detailed planning stage that will involve consultation with key stakeholders.

This process will be conducted with a view to:

• Presenting more detailed plans to both Corporations by the end of December 2009 (addressing issues raised in the Feasibility Study) for a final decision
• Submitting the necessary documentation to the Minister for Education at WAG in January 2010 and
• Formally and legally merging the two colleges in April 2010.
