The Coleg Llandrillo Cymru Story
Coleg Llandrillo Cymru has announced the launch of a book detailing the comprehensive history of the College over the last century into the multi-campus institution that it is today. Former Assistant Principal Gill Evans has spent the last two years chronicling the development of the College, producing a fascinating account which goes all the way back to adult evening classes that took place in Colwyn Bay at the beginning of the 20th century.
Gill has trawled through old minutes of meetings, County archives, photos and newspaper reports, as well as speaking to former staff and students of the College. “O Grefft i Gryfder - The Coleg Llandrillo Cymru story” presents a detailed and informative record which both informs and entertains the reader. The title of the book – which means “From Skill to Strength” – actually refers to the motto of the then Technical Institute in Colwyn Bay around 1957.

Following a successful career in accountancy in the public sector, Gillian Evans, a graduate in Economics from Warwick University, was appointed to the post of Assistant Principal of the College in 1990, retiring in 2004. She is uniquely placed to draw together the areas of significance that chart the College's development over the years.
