Grŵp Llandrillo - Menai Merger

At meetings in December 2011, the Boards of both Coleg Llandrillo Cymru and Coleg Menai formally agreed to a formal merger between the two Colleges to form the new Grŵp Llandrillo-Menai.

The merged organisation will be one of the largest in the UK, with a turnover of over £70million, employing over 2,000 staff and attracting 34,000 students annually. The Grŵp will operate from 14 campuses, its sphere of operations spanning the counties of Denbighshire, Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey. Grŵp Llandrillo-Menai will operate in different localities as Coleg Llandrillo, Coleg Menai and Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor, retaining the excellent reputations and relationships built up over recent years.

The recent decision follows the recent appointment of Mr Glyn Jones OBE as Chief Executive Officer Designate of the Grŵp. Mr Jones, currently Principal of Pembrokeshire College, will take up the position in February 2012.

Both Colleges will now be submitting the case to the Minister for Education and Skills in the Welsh Government, with a view to formally merging on 1 April 2012.
