Coleg Llandrillo Cymru’s annual report for 2008/09 was presented by the Chair of the Corporation Cllr. John Bellis, members of the board and the College Principal Huw Evans OBE at the College’s Annual Public Meeting this week.

The report reflected on how well the College had performed in the delivery of its mission ‘to provide outstanding education and training opportunities to improve the skills base of employers, individuals and communities to support social and economic advancement’. Attendees were also given the opportunity to ask questions concerning the College’s vision and strategy for the future.

The annual report provides the reader with an insight into the College by providing a range of facts and figures. This covers all aspects of what the College does, progress that it has made in delivering services and includes the financial accounts. The policy of the College in relation to public access to information is to demonstrate that it is open and accountable in the conduct of business and decision making.

Chair of the Corporation Cllr. John Bellis said: “In a time of rapid change in the Further Education sector in Wales, it is pleasing to record another outstanding year for Coleg Llandrillo Cymru, which has again outstripped every expectation and witnessed its diverse clientele achieve the best possible results in their varying studies.”

Vice Chair of the Corporation Dr HR Bichan provided the guests with a financial overview including the new builds on the College’s campuses, as well as current estates’ projects. These include the Marine & Built Environment Centre (costing £8.3m), the Rhyl Sixth Form Centre (£3.9m) and the Institute of Health & Student Facilities (£3.6m).

Mr Evans thanked all the staff, who have contributed to the continuing success of the College through difficult times, and gave an overview of College achievements and strategic direction, including the proposed merger with Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor.
