Colleges Consult on Merger Proposals
1 November 2009
As Coleg Llandrillo Cymru and Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor near the final stages of the merger proposal process, both Colleges are providing opportunities for individuals and organisations to comment on proposals and have their views considered.
This process will enable both Colleges to engage with a wider audience on proposed developments and to use the feedback to inform planning and policy for the proposed merged organisation.
The consultation forms part of the planning phase being conducted with a view to presenting more detailed plans to both College Corporations by the end of December 2009. If these plans are approved, the formal and legal merger of the two Colleges could happen as early as April 2010.
“The merger process is progressing well,” said Huw Evans OBE, Coleg Llandrillo Cymru Principal. “All elements of the ten commitments made to staff and students are being honoured and form the core of ongoing discussions. A merger of the two Colleges would be a landmark event bringing with it new opportunities and benefits to staff, students and local communities.”
“The consultation process will provide key stakeholders with the opportunity to express their views and potentially shape the future direction of education and training in Central and North West Wales,” added Dr Ian Rees, Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor Principal. “Both Colleges bring strengths to the table which can only be of benefit to learners in this part of North Wales.”
A consultation document has been jointly developed to support this process. Copies can be obtained from all main College campuses and by visiting www.llandrillo.ac.uk/merger or www.meirion-dwyfor.ac.uk/merger
