NVQ 2 Nail Services

What you will study

The practical techniques covered on this course are all underpinned by specifically related theory. This includes National and industry health and safety regulations, methods of sterilization and the spread of infection. Also you would cover anatomy and physiology relating to the hands and feet, and a wide range of skin and nail diseases and disorders.

Who the course is for

This course is ideal if you’re hoping to become a Nail Technician or you’re looking for a first course in this area of Beauty Therapy.

How you will study

Delivery methods include demonstration, lecture, group work, role play and visiting speakers.

How you will be assessed

The course is assessed continuously using a variety of methods. These include written assignments, case studies, practical assessments and written tests. To gain the qualification you must successfully complete all of the units and produce a portfolio of evidence.

Qualification Title

VTCT NVQ Level 2 in Nail Services

Course Length

One year full-time.

Abergele ONLY
Abergele only offers NVQ 2 Nail Services on Mondays (4pm -9pm),Wednesdays (4pm -9pm) and Saturdays (9am-1pm).
All sessions must be attended, plus 4 hours of home study is required. The course is over 32 weeks.

Entry Requirements

2 GCSEs Grade D-G plus motivation, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, you will also require an interview. A good level of academia is necessary to cope with the written aspect of the course.

You must be reliable, enthusiastic, even tempered and well groomed. An interest in nails and the desire to work in the industry and a certain amount of artistic flair is important.

Your Options After the Course

Once you've completed the course you could go onto the NVQ 3 in Nail Services or another Beauty or Hairdressing courses at Coleg Llandrillo Cymru.

You could also move into employment in the beauty industry.
