Courses At The Rhyl Sixth
A-Level Courses
Here at the Rhyl Sixth, we offer a wide range of AS Level/A2 courses. These courses are designed to prepare you for work in a variety of professions or industries as well as subjects which provide you with progression to further study. A minimum of 5 higher grade passes at GCSE level normally guarantees entry to AS level courses.
With over 21 subjects to choose from you can continue with subjects that you know and enjoy or choose from a range of exciting new subjects.
A-levels develop and test knowledge and understanding of a particular subject through examinations and coursework, as well as developing analytical and critical abilities. A level students also develop advanced study skills and become proficient users of information and communication technology.
Details of course content, assessment and subject entry requirements are available in the individual course outlines. In your first year you will complete two/three modules of the course, which will give you an AS qualification.
Students who successfully complete the AS level course can then ‘upgrade’ their subjects to full A2 level in Year 13.
Vocational Courses
If you are looking for a work related course, a Vocational course could be for you. The Rhyl Sixth are proud to offer a broad range of vocational courses.
These courses operate on a continuous assessment basis. A work related or vocational qualification is useful if you have a clear idea of what job you’d like in the future. The aim of these courses is to equip students with the skills they need for employment and/or further education.
Details of course content, assessment and subject entry requirements are available in the individual course outlines.
